Jeremiah 29:11-13

The theme of our Lenten season this year is repentance, reflection, and renewal. This passage in Jeremiah is full of promise. This motif of finding God is repeated throughout the Bible, and He tells us directly that we will find Him if we seek with all our heart. It is astonishing that the Lord tells us that we will find him. Not that we can if we go through all the right motions, but that we certainly will if we do so with sincerity. But what does it mean to seek with all your heart? Seldom do we do anything with complete conviction, but that is what is asked of us in this passage. Nothing should take away from your relationship to God and your journey towards Him, no matter how tempting.

Total commitment to seeking God can happen every day during the routines of life. Keeping your heart towards Him in everything you do will lead you to His arms. Where can the hope in this passage inspire your daily life? It’s easy to not make time for prayer, but to pray is to seek Him as well. Intentionally taking time to speak with God throughout the day is an important and centering practice. God hears you, and He has your best interests in mind. His word is unbreakable, so take refuge in His promise.
