As we continue to approach Christmas, it is useful to learn from the childlike wonder that the season holds. Children embody the joy of the season in a more innocent manner than adults, and while it is important to keep the deeper meaning of the holiday in mind, their untainted optimism and lightheartedness is a wonderful illustration of our security in God’s love. Children do not have the worldly worries that their parents do; there is much more excitement in their hearts than there is worry about weather delays at the airport. This lack of anxiety is possible through complete trust that everything is already taken care of.
As God’s children, we can feel that same unburdened excitement when looking towards our reconciliation with Him. We do not need to fear punishment or examine our lives to make sure we made no mistakes because it is all taken care of by God. We are free to completely love Him, without fear or doubt, as He completely loves us. Just as children do not attempt to rebook a flight, we do not have to attempt to work towards salvation. Our childlike relation to God, in complete love and trust, sooths all fears. All is well when we are in God’s arms, so we can certainly rejoice in anticipation of the last days.
